The Dream-Home

The current year is 2523 in Derbyshire, England. Much of the planet had flooded in 2423 causing the population to dwindle. A few survivors were evacuated to ‘Mother-ship’, an international space station.
Various teams of scientists have been sent back to Earth to see if humanity can move back after almost 100 years of not living on the planet.
One team, unit Delta-076, landed their ship in Lumsdale Falls, Derbyshire, England. They will be harvesting the new flora and forna that may now be present on site to study; as well as, growing crops from preserved seeds.
Whilst excavating the site they found fragments of a relic from a time before. They pieced them together and realised it resembled a structure. They believe this is the ideal ‘home’ of their ancestors. A colour-changing pool became of great significance due to it’s magic-like properties.
The properties of water and its power became deeply embedded in their belief system due to its abundance on site. During site development a bathhouse heated by the power of the waterfall was constructed for the ritual of cleansing.
The core values of The Monastery are playing, cleansing and relaxing as this is what the Dreamhouse represents to them.

BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design

Interior Architecture and Design at NTU has an incredibly long and rich history; with Interior Decoration taught at the first ever UK Art school, in the Waverley building during the 1950s.

Over the last 70 years, our programme has grown and adapted to meet the requirements of industry and social change, respond to trends, and deliver a degree which encourages students to look, think, critically appraise, and understand local and world issues amongst the principles of design.

We are a validated degree programme in which our students can join the Chartered Society of Designers, and we are members of the Interior Educators network. Our dedicated design studio in the Grade II* listed Arkwright building enables a studio culture which reflects professional practice, in a dynamic environment that challenges everyone to work collaboratively, share experiences and experiment with ideas.
