Green's Food Hub

The new food and community hub is built into the sloping hill of Green’s Windmill in Sneinton, Nottingham. Surrounded by schools, parks, and residential areas, the new hub serves as a place of food and sustainability education for the many young families already using the site. Three main axes define the site from the orientation of the buildings to the layout of the terracing. Also applied throughout are the concepts of modulation and fragmentation. Using one module frame and a set of floor, wall, and roof panels, all the buildings on site can be created and expanded on in the future. Visitors will feel as though the new complex lies neatly in the topography and maintains and welcomes existing and new nature. Classrooms, meeting spaces, demo kitchens, a cafe, and many indoor farming modules all work together to create an environment of sustainable and economic inspiration for all visitors.
