Jessamine Square - the home of reconnection

Homelessness has been an issue in Nottingham for several years. With the recent cost of living crisis, it is likely that more people will find themselves homeless or living in poverty. This is shown through the trend that happened in early 2021 where the number of people sleeping rough had doubled since 2019 because of the coronavirus pandemic. This proves that not enough is being done to assist rough sleepers.

Jessamine Square offers temporary accommodation for rough sleepers and provides them with the opportunity to change their lives through a variety of different means. The scheme also has transitional living spaces which act as a steppingstone to a more independent life. It also acts as a hub for the community and provides people with a new area to explore and enjoy. Jessamine Square will also act as a bridge between the new Broadmarsh development and Nottingham Castle to encourage people to venture to this side of the city, instead of staying to the east of Maid Marian Way.
