The Canal Spa

The Canal Spa is a haven of serenity and relaxation with breath-taking views of the river. We promote community and relationships, not only between people, but also between people and the environment. This was the motivating notion behind our building's design. We investigate how we may foster and influence the concept of 'interconnectivity' through our design.

The Nottingham Canal has had a significant impact on Nottingham's history. It was immediately established around 1796. The standard for modes of transportation. The canal symbolises how Nottingham remains connected to areas of the Midlands, and even better, the rest of the world. This concept is embodied in our building and pavilion. We are motivated by river's 'interconnectivity', and we desire the same for our visitors.

Hinduism claims that water is a sacred natural form and has therapeutic properties. We take into account this notion of healing by enabling views of the canal; with the water serving as the site's uniting element, we use it as a medium for linking people to both the environment and one another.
